The POPP 10 Years Smoke Detector combines a standalone photoelectric smoke alarm with a separate Z-Wave Plus communication module. The smoke-detector head has a fixed long-life lithium battery designed for its service life, while the wireless module uses its own replaceable battery so smart-home connectivity can be maintained independently.
When smoke is detected, the alarm sounds locally and the Z-Wave system can report the event to a compatible controller. That allows safety-focused automations such as switching on lights or changing compatible shutters and access devices, while the smoke alarm itself remains a standalone safety device rather than depending on the smart-home hub to function.
