Shelly LoRa Add-on extends compatible Shelly Gen3 and Gen4 devices with long-range LoRa communication for installations where ordinary local networking cannot cover the required distance. Shelly specifies communication of up to 5 km with an external antenna, depending on local conditions, with AES-CCM encryption for the data link.
The add-on connects through Shelly’s proprietary serial interface and is powered by the compatible host device. A working LoRa link requires at least two LoRa Add-ons—one at each end of the connection—and custom scripting can be used to tailor the transmitted data and automation behaviour.
